The Marina Alta has been popular with tourists for many years, Hemmingway being one of Calpe's frequent visitors during the 1930's. A mild all year round climate and an average of 320 days sunshine each year adds to the attraction. The World Health Organisation has designated this area as possessing one of the finest climates found anywhere and the EU has awarded many of the beaches in the area the prestigious "blue flag" for water quality and cleanliness several years running.
The landscape of the Marina Alta is blessed with greenery year round, with wonderful mountain vistas looking inland from the kilometres of beaches, or within the fabulous valleys, famous for their wine, (such as the increasingly popular Jalon Valley), or the abundant, but slightly higher elevation Citrus Valleys (notably of the Orba region)

Denia Fisherman’s Quarter |

Denia - The cosmopolitan avenue of Marques de Campo, lined with immense plane trees, is the stage where the Moors and Christians feasts are held in mid August.
A few metres down the street is the ‘Fisherman’s Quarter’ (pictured) for the people who like to see and be seen. The shore has a harbour for fishing boats, a marina for sailboats and yachts, a yacht club and beaches for swimming and sunbathing.
Denia has a port with daily sea links to the Balearics, Ibiza and Mallorca. The Moorish castle rooted on a nearby hill, preserves noteworthy historic remains which are all illustrated by displays at the towns Archaeological Museum, open to the public in the Placio del Gobernador |

Javea - At the foot of the Montgo mountain lies a bustling tourist centre grown up around an ancient farming community, with deeply rooted customs and traditions, like the annual moors and christians parade (pictured)
Javea is a town in three sections:
The Old Town, with its historic and traditional streets and plazas.
The Port, with its exclusive marina, yacht club, diving centre, restaurants and shopping area.
The
Arenal Beach’ area, where you not only find an exceptional sandy beach with water sport facilities but also fantastic restaurants, bars and boutiques. |

Jalon Valley - Situated just a 25 minute drive inland from the coastal towns of Denia, Javea, Moraira and Calpe this is the ideal location to be just off the beaten track yet close enough to enjoy the coast.
The valley itself is renowned for its production of Moscatel wines. A visit to the local Bodegas makes a fascinating day out.
In the spring the valley is a stunning carpet of pale pink almond blossom, Summer brings the grapes and winter the oranges. Stunning mountain scenery surrounds the valley towns of Jalon, Alcalali and Parcent. |

Moraira - Visitors from all over Europe have discovered the magnificent environment this town offers for holiday makers and residents.
Sandy beaches like El Portet, L’Ampolla and Plagetes, and also the rocky coves with clear blue water, L’Andrago, Punta Estrella and La Cala, make Moraira the spot for fun, sun and sea sports.

Calpe - Is home to the famous Rock of Ifach (pictured) which measures 332m in height.
Today it is transformed into a nature park to protect its unique vegetation and over 300 species of wildlife, including colonies of sea birds that use it as a nesting area.
Calpe is an authentic tourist site, with a coastline boasting sandy beaches, cliff faces and an ancient salt mine.
Remains of an ancient fish salting factory from the Roman times can be seen next to the sea front promenade. |

Altea - One of the most desirable areas of the North Costa Blanca with exceptional views over the Mediterranean, the bay of Altea and the coastline which is stunning when illuminated at night.
Altea Hills’ is set up into the mountains boasting its own community, amenities and luxury 5 star hotel. Apartments and villas here are all very exclusive.
Altea town has all the shops and amenities you would expect as well as a marina which is soon to be expanded to accommodate a further 200 berths. |

| This northernmost area of the province of Alicante is easily reachable from either Alicante or Valencia Airports (about 90km from each), both have a good range of flight routes from most UK airports and there are many low fares available from British Airways and Iberia also some incredibly cheap deals from the no-frills airlines. |
